Morning Arson Leads to Three Arrests
On May 18, 2010, at 8:54 a.m., emergency responders were sent to a duplex at 2903 N. 44th Street. A neighbor witnessed a man leaving the home carrying a gas can. Shortly thereafter, flames were observed at the residence. The sole tenant was able to escape through a laundry room window. Lincoln Fire & Rescue quickly contained the structure fire, which caused extensive damage.
Through interviews, Lincoln Police Department investigators determined that three men had been visiting the 30 year old female resident. After several hours of methamphetamine use, a drug induced argument arose. The men left and returned with a can of gasoline, which they used to set a fire inside the home. All three men have been identified and lodged in Lancaster County Jail for 1st degree Arson, a Class II Felony. They are scheduled to appear in court on May 19th at 2 p.m. in Courtroom 10.
