Lincoln Police Investigate Weekend Homicide
On Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 5 a.m., officers were sent to 407 S. 26th St. #4 on the report of a pounding noise coming from the residence. Officers arrived to find William Pereira kneeling over the victim, 19-year-old Alissa Magoon. She was deceased, with multiple injuries. William Pereira was taken into custody and lodged at Lancaster County Jail for 1st degree Murder and Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony. An autopsy later determined that Alissa Magoon died from blunt force trauma to the head.
On Sunday, December 5, 2010, at 12:45 p.m., officers were sent to the jail regarding an injury to William Pereira. He sustained a head injury and was transported by ambulance to Bryan LGH West. Both Lincoln Police Department and Lancaster County Corrections are investigating the possibility that the injury was a suicide attempt. Further information may be released by the Lancaster County Attorney, after the investigation is complete.
