Roy Williams Arrested for Attempted Murder
On March 24, 2010, 41 year old Traci Dishman came to Lincoln to meet a party by the name of John Smith. She met the man online and had been communicating with him for three days. They arranged to have a movie date and Traci was told by John Smith to meet him at his apartment, 1441 G St. Apt C4, at 9:30 pm. She arrived at this location, started to climb the stairs when she was shot three times by a party she could only describe as a man dressed in dark clothing. Traci was hospitalized with injuries to her legs and abdomen.
Through the course of the investigation, Traci mentioned that she ended a two year relationship with Roy Williams in February. Before they broke up, Roy threatened, "If I ever find you with someone else, I will hunt you down and shoot you." Through subsequent subpoenas, investigators learned that Roy used the computer in his York, Nebraska home to set up an online account under the name of John Smith. That account, and the communication that followed, was used to lure Traci Dishman to 1441 G Street and assault her.
On March 29, 2010, a warrant was issued for Roy Williams' arrest. With the assistance of law enforcement in St. Louis, Missouri, Roy was apprehended on March 30, 2010. He will ultimately be extradited to Lincoln to face charges of Attempted 1st degree Murder and Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony.
