South Haymarket Park

The park, southwest of 7th and "N" streets, will include a playground and festival space, a dog park, play courts and other amenities. The park will also include a trail connection between "N" and "J" streets, providing a vital link between downtown and the trail system to the south. A new public plaza on the south end of Canopy Street will provide gathering spaces and include a proposed signature public artwork. The Parks and Recreation Department will seek community input on the preliminary design for the new park and plaza area during the summer of 2019.

Community Survey

The 2018 Downtown Lincoln Master Plan includes a new downtown neighborhood park ad plaza as a catalyst project. This new park is planned to be southwest of the South 7th and N Streets and will be about six acres in size. A preliminary master plan has been developed for South Haymarket park and plaza, and we are asking community residents to envision how they would use the park, and for advice about what activity areas amenities should be included in the new park and plaza. The results of the survey will be shared with the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board as the master plan for the new park and plaza are finalized. It is envisioned that a portion of the funding for the new park and plaza will come from fundraising effort led by the Lincoln Parks Foundation.
